VERA AGATHA JOHNSON's Obituary
Vera Agatha Johnson of Cutler Bay, Florida passed away on May 24, 2016. Born on December 22, 1911 in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, West Indies. She graduated from Westwood High School before Commercial College, where she mastered Pitman's Shorthand. She began her secretarial career at the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Jamaica. Upon migrating to New York in 1950, she worked at several jobs before becoming secretary to vice President Doris Turner of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU-1199) until she retired in 1979 and settled in Florida. She loved cooking and entertaining, and was a philanthropic contributor to many charities. She will be remembered by family and friends for her free spirit and outgoing personality. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Church Building Fund.
