Stephen Kent Powell's Obituary
Stephen K. Powell was born in Pontiac Michigan on July 4, 1947.
Parents: The late Marvin "Red" Powell and Dorothy Powell.
Steve was the second oldest of 5 siblings - he was preceded in death by brothers Michael, Mark and Patrick.
He is survived by sister Catherine, sister-in-Laws Nancy and Diane, eight nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Steve graduated from Pontiac Northern High School and attended Pontiac Business Institute. He enlisted in the US Navy and served four years of active duty including one year in Vietnam.
Steve continued in the Navy Reserves and retired in 1996 as a Chief Petty Officer. In 2012 he joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary at Homestead Airforce Base and received several commendations for his role in boat safety checks for Homeland Security.
Steve was always a very happy person - he genually enjoyed working with people and most recently worked for First Service Residential in Miami Beach as Front Desk Manager & Team Leader.
In addition to his volunteer work with the Coast Guard, Steve volunteered in his community and neighborhood.
