Silvano Romano Merendi's Obituary
Silvano R. Merendi of Miami, Florida, passed away quietly at home in his 89th year of life on December 6, 2018.
He was born in Mercato Saraceno, Forli, Italy on February 21, 1929. Silvano served in the Italian Navy for seven years. In 1951 he was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York where he met his future wife of sixty three years, Louise. Upon completion of his service, they were married in Forli, Italy in July 1955.
Silvano made the USA his home where he built a new life and family. Prior to retirement in Florida, he resided in Brooklyn and then, Howard Beach, New York.
He was a, "Machinist, 'First Class'" and worked on projects for Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed Martin, Curtiss-Wright, the United States Department of Defense and NASA.
In his youth, Silvano played soccer and engaged in track and field competitions. Later on, his interests included bowling, fishing, photography, sports, world travel and gardening.
Silvano is survived by his true love of sixty-seven years, his loving and devoted wife Louise, his daughter Christina and son Silvano. He was predeceased by his youngest child, Glenn Russell in 2011. He had one granddaughter, Celia and a great grandson, Samuel.
Silvano was a clever, talented, hard working man who held high expectations of himself and his family. He will be greatly missed and always loved.
A private funeral and entombment is planned.
