I remember Aunt Rachael as the most stylish, cool, and radical person in the world. As a little girl in her home, I was inspired by her art, the constant presence of music, by the stories she had to tell and the way she lived her life. She was not the kind of woman I thought a woman had to be. I grew up to be a radical artist, a wild, creative, and often outspoken woman myself largely because of her influence. I make music, I make art, I decorate my home, I fan myself lazily in the summer heat while talking to friends on the phone, I walk like I deserve to take up space, I make my voice heard, I stand up for my right to feel, I stand up for my right to be passionate--all because I am in a line of women handed to me, unbroken, by my mother and my Aunt Rachael. She has moved on to her next life in the flesh, but her influence on the world and the generations that come will always carry an extra sassy spark in her honor. Missing Aunt Rachael and knowing her memory is a collective grief we all honor in sharing her stories here.
Love and peace to us all as we meet in grief,
Dominique,
Grateful Niece
Rachael, you were a classic woman. Listening to your stories and jokes were fun times. Once I saw that twinkle in your eye, I knew something juicy was coming. I love that you had your Auntie Barbara’s fabulous Grant legs. I will miss you and love you always, until we meet again. ❤️💯🙏🏻🇯🇲👍🎆🎆
Cracks me up thinking of Rachael and me giggling about “Daddy’s Juice” when we gave Dominique and Jonny apple juice while we broke out the beers. Or the wine. Or the rum. Delightful, mischievous sister in law!! She will be missed. Dennis Kent: former brother in law
Missing your joy and sassiness. Love you forever.
I remember how you were always happy and bubbly. You loved Jackie so much and you raised your son with pride . Rest peacefully my dear Rachael and know that we will always take care of Jackie and Christian
