Mortimer Charles McNeil's Obituary
Mortimer Charles McNeil affectionately known as Timo, Uncle Timo, Mr. Morty was born on December 18, 1932, in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Flossie and Lewis McNeil who were ardent Catholics. Mortimer and all his brothers and sisters followed in their parents’ footsteps, and all became lifelong ardent Catholics.
He earned his Structural Engineering degree in Kingston, Jamaica and after migrating to the United States Mr. Morty became a State of Florida General Contractor; he signed and sealed many major projects for the Miami Dade County School System, Miami International Airport and Downtown Miami Renovation Projects to name a few. He was also an AutoCAD Master.
Mortimer was married to Olga Powell, the love of his life. To this union four daughters were born. Mortimers’ wife preceded him in death.
Mortimer is survived by his daughters; Trudy, Dawn Dominique McNeil-Johnson, Brigid McNeil and Joanna Augustin. Son in Laws; Vendel, Christopher Johnson and Patrick Augustin. Grandchildren; Le’Andre Davis, Alexandria, Stephon Mais, Dominic Davis, Stephen Mais, Dante Davis, Jason Hibbert and Elias Augustin. Great Granddaughters; Leilani Mais and Synai Mais, Sister; Joan Shirley; Nieces and Nephews and a host of family and friends.
Mortimer was a very kind man who was adored by all who met him. He was a member of the Legion of Mary (LOM) and he was also the key holder and St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in North Miami, FL. He will be most remembered for his faith in God and the Blessed Mother Mary. His greatest treasure was the love that he had for his family. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make everyone laugh during the toughest of times. He enjoyed many special lifelong friendships. He was a truly remarkable man; never a dull moment and will be truly missed.
On March 20, 2023, Mortimer was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother Mary. He has finished his work and is finally resting in Peace. In his own words “The Clock has struck.” Grieve not for Mortimer Charles McNeil for he is Free.
