I was the only person in the world that had the privilege of having María Cristina as a big sister. What an incredible gift to my life! My sister had an endless capacity to care and give to others. She put her family and friends first, never showing what a tremendous self sacrifice that required. I hope she received at least as half as much as she gave to others.
Growing up & as an adult, it gave me so much comfort knowing that I could count on her no matter what. She was always by my side when I was going through difficult times, giving me her love & support. As my big sister, I always looked up to her, admiring and learning not only from her kindness & generosity but also from immense inner strength, resilience & persistence. My sister was my rock & role model.
Her kindness & generosity were so innate that she probably never realized the immense mark she left on me & many others. It hurts to know that I won’t see my sister again, but it gives me comfort to know that she will continue to live in my heart.
María Cristina, my dear sister, rest in peace. I will miss you always, and I will love you forever.
