In Loving Memory of Lya Zapata Arcic
October 5,1930 – January 5, 2025
Lya was born in Medellin, Colombia on October 5, 1930, to Ruben Zapata Hernandez and Martina Munoz Duque and given the name Lya Ines Zapata Munoz. She had two older sisters, Berta and Johnny and a younger brother, Renan. Lya was married to Segundo Moreno in 1951 and had two children, Olivia and George. In 1961, the family immigrated to
the United States and resided in Miami, Florida. Lya became a U.S Citizen in 1973. But the most important event of her life occurred in 1976 when she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
From the time she was young Lya was skilled at sewing and became a professional seamstress. She loved music and drama and participated in various choirs throughout her life. However, her greatest love was for the Lord Jesus Christ and His church. As a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, she participated in the choir and dramatic productions for decades. She also loved children and taught Sunday School for many years.
Lya was predeceased by her father and mother, husband, brother and sisters. Her surviving children are Olivia Hale (Douglas) and George Moreno. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Ella tuvo dos hermanas mayores, Berta y Johnny y un hermano menor, Renan. Lya se casó con Segundo Moreno en 1951 y tuvieron dos hijos, Olivia y George. En 1961 la familia emigro a Los Estados Unidos y residían en Miami, Florida. Lya se convirtió en Ciudadana Americana en 1973. Pero el evento más importante en su vida ocurrió en 1976 cuando recibió a Jesucristo como su Señor y Salvador. Desde que era joven Lya era experta en la costura y se convirtió en costurera profesional. Le encantaba la música y drama y participó en varios coros a lo largo de su vida. Sin embargo, su mayor amor fue por el Señor Jesucristo y su iglesia. Como miembro de La Iglesia Bautista Getsemaní, participó en el coro y producciones dramáticas por décadas. Ella también amaba a los niños y enseñaba en la escuela dominical durante muchos años. Lya fue precedida por su padre y su madre, esposo, hermano y hermanas. Sus hijos supervivientes son Olivia Hale (Douglas) y George Moreno. Ella también esta sobrevivida por 6 nietos y 9 bisnietos.
