Lew was one of my favorites from Citrus Grove through Miami High. He was a true stingaree all the way, at the luncheons, reunions and Hall of Fame dinners, and a patriotic american all the way. I will miss him. Marcia Sperber Arrendale
Sending our deepest sympathy to Rick and David and the family. Lew was a dear friend since Miami High days and I had the privilege of working with him at the Dade County Citizens Safety Council. He always had my back and was loyal, trustworthy, and had a wicked sense of humor. When I retired to the Tallahassee area, he was a tremendous help in our move. He was a true friend. RWLY Lew.

Dear Sayre Family and Friends, when we heard the news, even though his health has not been great, it really knocked the wind out of us. Lew has a very important place in my heart and life. From the mid 70s to early 80s, Lew and I spent countless hours teaching Life Saving, Water Safety and WSIT as volunteers, anywhere and everywhere the Red Cross needed us. We even planned out one presentation going 60 mph going down US1 with Lew in the car and me on a motorcycle beside him! We spent many, many hours of working hard and playing hard. He was a very special person who does not come along often in this life. We will always treasure the fact that Lew chose us to share part of his life. Deep sympathy and great love for the life of Lew Sayre....
