Kevin Thomas Cottingim's Obituary
Kevin Cottingim, 68, of Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025.
Kevin built a long and successful career as a human resources executive. He taught on aircraft carriers, worked in scientific publishing, and spent many years in the restaurant industry. He was known not only for his professional excellence but for his deep commitment to fairness and ethics.
Mentorship came naturally to him—he had an extraordinary ability to listen, guide, and lift up those around him.
Outside of work, Kevin lived life fully and unapologetically. He brought warmth, love, and intellectual interest wherever he went. He loved 70‘s music, a good book, and the strategy of leading people and managing organizations. Keeping in shape was a passion, and being shirtless was his favorite outfit. He was a philanthropist, a problem solver, and his wit and charm inspired every conversation.
To those who knew him best, Kevin was fiercely loyal and endlessly
generous—always ready to protect, support, and advocate for the people he loved. His selflessness and humor will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Kevin is survived by his loving husband, Stanislaw Cottingim, his twin sister, Kim Gilbert, and Andrew, his parrot of 34 years, who brought him endless companionship and joy. He will be joining his cherished dog, Toby, who has been waiting patiently to greet him.
A memorial service will be held at Van Orsdel Funeral Home in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Kevin’s memory.
