Julia Iglesias' Obituary
IGLESIAS, JULIA. May 3, 1922-September 14, 2010 Our loving Julia, a devout Catholic and member of Saint Kevin Parish, entered eternal life with God on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. She died peacefully in prayer at Baptist Hospital after suffering complications from lymphoma with her daughter Elena Patrizio by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Manuel Iglesias, her siblings Alfonso, Antonia, Antonio, Felicita, Florencio, Jose, Miguelito Villalba, Ines Mier, Maria Dominguez and Rosa Otero. Julia was born in Placetas, Cuba, the youngest daughter of 11 children from Placidad and Alfonso Villalba. She moved to New York in 1935 and retired to Miami with her husband, Manuel, her sisters Inez Mier, Felicita Villalbe and her brother-in-law, Roberto Otero, in 1993. Her smile, laughter and faith in God reminded everyone she met that you could face any challenge in life. Julia's zest for life and love of meeting and talking to people were inspiring to everyone she met. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will benefit from her love and good counsel. Family and friends will miss Julia and their memories of her will be cherished forever. Julia is survived by her daughter, Elena Patrizio, her grandchildren Michael Patrizio of Qatar and Angela Appleby of Evergreen, Colorado, her great- grandchildren Lorenzo and Mikey Patrizio, Ashton and Robbie Appleby, her sister-in-law Piedad Roig. She was loved and will be greatly missed by many nieces, cousins and friends who were an important part of her life. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 17 from 3 pm to 10 pm at the funeral home. A Mass will be celebrated by Father Guy Fiano at St. Kevin's at 9 am on Saturday.
