HENA MARIA VARGAS's Obituary
Hena Maria Vargas, age 75, went to heaven on September 4, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born on July 12, 1945 in Managua, Nicaragua to Sofia Ramirez and Leopoldo Arguello. She married the love of her life, Maximiliano “Max” Vargas, on December 20, 1964 at La Capilla los Hermanos Cristianos in Managua, Nicaragua and raised four children along with her beloved nana, Tana. Hena emigrated to the U.S in 1979 and became an entrepreneur and a business owner in the fashion industry.
Hena dedicated her life to her family and being a loving and wonderful wife and mother and helping those in need. She was a devout catholic and led a life of faith, humility and service and led by example. She was an amazing grandmother to Nicholas, Christian, David Carl, Mariano, Sofia and Isabella who lovingly called her “Wita.” In addition, Hena was very dedicated to her extended family, her brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. Her life revolved around her family and never forgot a birthday or missed a special event. Hena made it her passion to improve the life of others, whether it was her family or those in need.
Hena was an avid philanthropist and generously gave her time and resources to multiple organizations. She was one of the founders in coordinating a program that provided meals to impoverished children in Nicaragua and subsequently founding a school for them. In addition, she was an active member of Parroquia Jesus de la Divina Misericordia, the orphanage El Divino Niño and Conaca, an organization who helps children battling cancer in Nicaragua, among others.
Hena was a woman of strong faith who filled her life and home with love, kindness and generosity. She selflessly dedicated her life to her family, friends and those in need. She touched the hearts of so many people and she will be greatly missed but her legacy will live in each of the hearts she touched.
Hena is survived by her husband, Max, her children, Hena, Max, Ana Carolina, and Carla and son’s in law Juan Aguirre, Scott Fries and Scott Fairbanks.
Our dad and us are eternally grateful for the love and support you have shown us over the past several days. The messages of love and admiration towards our beloved mom have been overwhelming and comforting. While nothing means more to us than spending time with everyone honoring the life of this amazing woman, we must continue to practice social distance to keep everyone safe. The wake on Tuesday September 7th at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapels and will be for the immediate family only due to COVID restrictions. It will be livestreamed.
The funeral mass will be on Thursday September 9th and will be open to friends and family. However, seating will be limited in accordance to church guidelines to maintain safe social distance. Church to be determined.

A la edad de 75 años, rodeada de sus seres queridos, Hena María (Argüello) Vargas partió para estar al lado del Señor el 4 de septiembre, 2020. Nació en Managua, Nicaragua el 12 de julio de 1945 fruto de la unión de Sofía Ramírez Hernández y Leopoldo Arguello Gil. Se casó con el amor de su vida, Maximiliano “Max” Vargas, el 20 de diciembre de 1964 en La Capilla de los Hermanos Cristianos en Managua, Nicaragua. Con su adorada “nana,” Tana, quién vivió con ella toda su vida, crio y formó a sus cuatro hijos. Hena María emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1979 donde se convirtió en empresaria en la industria del vestuario.
Ejemplar esposa y madre dedicada en su totalidad a su familia, Hena María llenó siempre su hogar con su infatigable amor y perenne buen humor, y a todos los que la rodeábamos nos enseñó el valor de la generosidad y la bondad y la importancia de ayudar a los necesitados. Fue una abuela extraordinaria para sus nietos Nicholas, Christian, David Carl, Mariano, Sofía e Isabella, quiénes cariñosamente la llamaban “Wita.” Los lazos familiares fueron sumamente importantes en su vida como evidencia la estrecha cercanía que siempre mantuvo con su hermano y hermanas, sobrinas y sobrinos. Nunca olvidó un día especial o cumpleaños, siempre dispuesta a escuchar y dar consejos.
Como católica devota, llevó una vida ejemplar, humilde y llena de fe, dedicada al bienestar de los otros. Fue una filántropa destacada dedicando tiempo y medios a múltiples organizaciones. Fue una de las fundadoras de programas para alimentar a niños pobres en Nicaragua, y para quiénes ayudó a construir escuelas. También fue muy activa en la Parroquia Jesús de la Divina Misericordia, el orfelinato El Divino Niño y CONACA, una entidad que ayuda a combatir el cáncer infantil en Nicaragua.
Indudablemente, Hena María tocó el corazón de muchos con su sonrisa fácil y dulces ojos, y con sus múltiples cualidades y hoy deja un gran vacío a los que la sobreviven. De igual manera, como es el caso de seres extraordinarios, tenemos la certeza que su legado vivirá eternamente en todos nosotros.
Su recuerdo continúa en su esposo Max, sus hijos Hena María, Max Antonio, Ana Carolina, and Carla Vanessa, y sus yernos Juan Aguirre, Scott Fries and Scott Fairbanks.
