I knew Eladio through his son, Our Station Captain for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Roman Bas. In fact, I just learned his name "Eladio," as he was Always known to me as "Roman's Father," the Cool OL' Guy I would honk my horn at, wave excitedly too, whenever I caught him working in the yard, hanging outside, keeping busy, at his house while I drove to and from the West Miami fire station I serve, whether in my private car or with a Big air horn "shout out" from the rescue or fire engine. He Always greeted me and us the same; a HUGE exaggerated wave, as if departing on an ocean cruise, a BIG Smile, followed by both his hands coming together as if in a quick prayer 🙏 was thrown your way. Always had a Good vibe of "Roman's Dad" as his Kindness and child like "Cuteness," if I may, I felt so genuinely that I had told Roman, "I Never met my Grandfather, BUT if I did, I'd Wish he was like your dad." Kinda Guy you want to Hug, Just cause you NEED to. And though I Already Know I will Miss him when I drive by his house tomorrow morning, I will need to comfort myself, in the Blessing that I was fortunate enough to have met such a person and Blessed enough to have worked with his son, which now reminds us of the impact Eladio, has left on this world.
