Donald Davenport's Obituary
Captain Donald R. Davenport has passed on August 31, 2020 in Miami, FL. Donald R Davenport was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928 and his family moved to Staten Island in 1938 where he attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Curtis High School. He grew up in Staten Island, NY and attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, Long Island. He graduated from the Academy in 1949 and spent 25 years with States Marine Lines which included active duty with the Navy for two years, then with Kaiser Aluminum as Transportation Manager and Donald finished his career as the Kings Point training officer for the West Coast until 1998 when he retired.
Donald married Maria Calzon in 1977 and is survived by his wife and four children, three daughters Linda Romanowski, Valeri Duncan-Derbes. Donna McMahon and their spouses and one son Raymond Davenport and his spouse, as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Captain Davenport moved to Miami in 2012. A memorial service will be held at Van Orsdel Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11220 N Kendall Drive in Miami, FL at 11:00AM.
