Charles G. Shaw's Obituary
SHAW
Charles “Charlie” Shaw, aged 65, of Miami, passed away March 22, 2009, with his beloved wife Lily at his side. Married for 31 years, he was a devoted husband and friend to many.
Born in the Bronx, New York, to the late Catherine and Hugh Shaw, Charlie spent his formative years in New York. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, served in the Navy for four years, graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a degree in Accounting. He spent 40 years working as a banker, before retiring from American Express Bank in 2007. A lifetime sports fan, Charlie was an avid follower of the New York Giants and Yankees.
His true love was for Lily, whom he married in 1978 in Miami, where they made their life. The world was their home, as they traveled together and shared in many adventures throughout their life. She was with him throughout his journey, including four years of courageously fighting mantle cell lymphoma.
His strength is an inspiration to all of his family, friends, and people he touched. Always one to tell a joke, Charlie brightened a room with his sense of humor and playful spirit.
