Barb is my cousin, on my mother's side. Her mother, Aunt Phyllis was my Mama's sister. I've known Barb (Doe and Mary) for many years. Barb and I are a lot alike, being involved in church activities. Barb and I became close when my husband, Dwight and I, started going to Jamaica on mission trips. However, in 2011, we were asked to consider staying a longer period of time in Jamaica as missionaries with the United Brethren in Christ Church. I had sent out letters to family and friends about this new ministry and Barb reached out to me by phone and asked a lot of questions about the work that was going to be done in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica. She said that the Lord had laid it on her heart to help support us, but, she was already supporting so many missionaries. She told me how much she could send to help...to be honest, it didn't matter how much, the Lord was using her to help us in this new ministry. I was thrilled we were able to connect in this way. We served in Jamaica until my husband, Dwight, passed away July 27, 2018. After listening to testimony after testimony tonight, via internet, I realized just how much Barb and I had in common. She was a talker, yes, but so am I. Of course, at 71, I've now been diagnosed with ADHD!!! You see, back in the olden days, ADHD was not a thing, you just had a child that talked a lot. I found myself entertaining people and if they laughed, it just made me keep going. Barb had a heart for the Lord, for His people and for those who needed the Lord. I've decided, yes, I want to be like my cousin Barb when I grow up. I do have a mission field today, it's my neighborhood of hurting people who need to know that God loves them. There's not a lot I can do these days, but, I can talk and I can sing and I can pray. I'm blessed for having had Barb in my life. Russ, Guy, Andy, my thoughts and prayers are for you and your families. May God bless each one of you as you carry on the legacy of your Mama, which is serving the Lord. My love to all of you. ~Blessings, your cousin, Patti Peurifoy-Kuntz. I'd love to connect with you, maybe on Facebook, look me up.
