Debbie was a part of our family since she was 12 years old. She and my daughter Cheryl became friends and were inseparable. This wonderful friendship would continue throughout their lives.
I have memories of Debbie being at our home for birthdays, holidays, swimming and joining us for outings and vacation. I enjoyed watching them participate in many activities like cheerleading and sports events and was happy they were able to share in a trip to Germany for 6 weeks as exchange students.
One of my favorite memories was when they had to make and decorate a German style cake for a class project. That was a lot of fun to do.
Debbie was a part of all of Cheryl’s important moments and Cheryl in hers. Through adulthood they could always count on each other to have the others back.
Our family has many memories of Debbie. She was very kind, funny, someone you could count on, a hard worker, strong and brave throughout her battle with cancer. Her passing has been hard to accept by our entire family.
Our family loves you so much Debbie and we are missing you terribly.

My son, Ansel, does gymnastics on the Competitive Adaptive Tam alongside Becca at Balance 180 in Gainesville. I will always remember Debbie's tenacity as a mother supporting Becca in all that she did. At our first gymnastics meet together (Special Olympics last year), Debbie told me about Becca's experience doing dance and other sports before gymnastics which enabled her to quickly become a talented gymnast and constant source of motivation and inspiration for the rest of the team. She was such a proud mom and a leader among the team parents, even organizing gifts and cards for the coaches this past Christmas. It was shocking to all of us parents to hear that she'd passed, and we will deeply miss her presence at practices and meets.
My prayers go out to Robert and her beautiful daughters. I know she loved you all so very much. I think I have been on both sides of Debbie’s masterclass through my Assurant career :). She always stood up for what she thought was right. While I didn’t always appreciate being the recipient, I definitely learned so much from Debbie. May God Bless her and keep her in His loving arms.
I worked with Debbie at Assurant on many occasions in my career, and there were very, very few names at the company that garnered the respect Debbie's did. She exemplified the idea of leading from the front, and set the example for everyone that worked with her. Always respectful, and caring for those around her, Debbie lives on in the hearts of all that knew her. Rest in Peace.
Alyssa words can’t even begin to express how sorry I am for your loss… your mom was an amazing woman and mother. You definitely inherited a lot of from her, whether you would like to admit it or not. I remember every time I saw her she was so stoic and proper (and of course towered over me lol). She raised amazing women who will ensure her memory is passed on through the generations.
