YVETTE L GEARHART's Obituary
Yvette Lucienne Gearhart
Yvette Gearhart, 88, passed away on August 19, 2018 after a short illness. Yvette was predeceased by her husband, Lee Gearhart, and her beloved mother, Sylvia Munaut. Yvette was born in Sommethonne, Belgium and emigrated to the United States, with her mother, in 1952 and settled in Miami. During her youth in Belgium, Yvette experienced first hand the travesty of war, escaping the Nazi Germany invasion of Belgium on three different occasions. Yvette recalled the liberation of Brussels and witnessed the German exodus and the arrival of the liberating English troops. Despite what she saw and experienced in her youth, she never lost sight of the goodness in humankind.
In Miami, Yvette met and married her husband, Lee Gearhart, and had a successful career in banking, most notably with SunTrust Bank in their Trust Department.
Yvette has been a parishioner of St. Patrick Church since 1952, and since her retirement from SunTrust in 1995, she has been an active volunteer at the church working in the accounting office.
Yvette was loved by many for her kind, caring, and gentle attitude toward all she encountered.
She is survived by many loving friends and family in Miami, Indiana, and in Belgium.
A Mass will be held for her on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 3716 Garden Avenue, Miami Beach, Fl., 33140.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Patrick Church (serving those in need in our community) and may be sent to the address above.
