YOLANDA R BRENNAN's Obituary
Yolanda Raquel Brennan (Mamita), 96, passed away peacefully at her home on April 25, 2018. Mamita was born in Panama on March 10, 1922, and moved to New Orleans in 1933. She graduated from the Sacred Heart Academy and then went on to Sophie Newcomb College where she received her B.A.. In 1943, she furthered her studies at the University of Miami Law School where she was class secretary and the only female in the class of nine students. During her college years, she assisted her father in his diplomatic work with the Panamanian Consulate in the city of Miami Beach. Mamita was married to James Anthony Brennan on August 4, 1945, until his death in December 2011. Mamita was a loving wife, mother of twelve children, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to all who knew her. To know her was to know faith. Her beautiful soul left a trail of loving memories. Mamita was the matriarch of the Brennan family and was well known in the Coral Gables community both through her faith, active lifestyle, and through the lives of her children. She was an avid tennis player and a member of Coral Gables Country Club tennis team. She also enjoyed bowling and was a volunteer at the Miami Children’s Hospital and the Marian Center School. Mamita was a devout Catholic and could be seen every morning walking to the 6:30 a.m. Mass at the Church of the Little Flower.
Mamita was preceded in death by her husband, James Anthony, sons Manuel, Tom, and baby Leo. She is survived by her children, Jim (Claudia), Yoyi, Tita (Mike), Penny (Paul), Nina (Bob), Barry (Michael), Anne (Frank), Missy (Manny), Joe and daughter-in-law Kathy (Tom). Mamita is also survived by her 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, her loving sister Olga (100 years old), her niece Olguita, and nephew Bill (Marcela). Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Van Orsdel Coral Gables . Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 2, 2018, at the Church of the Little Flower located at 2711 Indian Mound Trail, Coral Gables. Burial Woodland North, 3260 SW 8th Street.
