With disbelief and sorrow, I must share my
recollections of a 50-year cherished friendship
with Bill.
We met at Gulfstream Park. I was the public
relations representative coordinating with Bill,
the Miami Herald reporter and photographer.
What followed is incredible. No matter where
our lives veered, we somehow remained in touch.
And so, when other contacts emerged and drifted,
we shared news and true dedicated loyalty.
During the 1970's, we lived in adjacent
buildings at Brickell Point Apartments by
the mouth of the Miami River. He had his friends,
I had mine. Yet, everyone joined for festive times.
Among my precious memories was Bill and
Virginia's beautiful wedding ceremony at Vizcaya,
with their sailing away into the sunset.
Bill's admirable skills, talents and traits were
endless. An incredible journalist, unselfish,
compassionate, loyal, amazing sense of humor,
Just to name a few.
Today, I am very sad. Lois Nevins
