Victor Alberto Carew's Obituary
Victor Alberto Carew passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at 7:52 a.m. with family and friends by his side, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and love that touched countless lives.
Victor was born on September 13, 1954, in Punto Fijo, Falcón State, Venezuela, to his late, beloved parents, Verner Carew Faria and Encarnación Ruiz de Carew.
Victor was a devoted family man and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Janine
Fischer-Carew, and his cherished son, del’Roddrick Cortez Carew-Bassett (LaQuita). He
was one of seven siblings: Vernon “Ken” Carew (deceased), Rosa Elba Carew de Rondón,
Vernon Antonio Carew Ruiz (deceased), María Elena Carew de García, Sheila Patricia
Carew Ruiz (deceased), and Carlos Armando Carew Ruiz. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, del’Roddrick Cortez Carew-Bassett Jr.
At the age of 15, Victor journeyed to the United States, where he attended Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA, and proudly graduated. He later continued his education at West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia.
For 28 years, Victor worked as a waiter at Smith & Wollensky, where he was admired for his professionalism, warmth, and genuine care for others. He was immensely proud of his 30 years of sobriety—a milestone that reflected his strength, discipline, and commitment to living a life of purpose. Through his journey, Victor became a mentor to many, offering guidance, encouragement, and hope.
Victor found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, deeply adored his animals, and took great pride in his yard work. A true handyman, he was always working on projects around the house and was especially proud of completing his “honey-do lists,” often joyfully sharing each finished task. One of his all-time favorites was decorating the house for Christmas, in which he took great pride.
Above all, Victor was known for his kindness. He treated everyone he met with respect,
compassion, and sincerity. He was loved, adored, and deeply respected by many, and his presence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Victor’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
