Vicky Damesworth's Obituary
Vicky Ann Damesworth passed away on May 23, 2024 in Miami, Florida. She was born to
parents Patricia Ann Jones and Robert Damesworth in Waverly, Tennessee and raised in
Garden City, Michigan where she spent many decades of her life.
As a graduate of Garden City East High School in 1970, she went on to have a successful
career with the State of Michigan for over 30 years. She is survived by her mother, Patricia, her
sister Kimberly, her brother Steve (Charlotte), her sister Sheryl, her sister-in-law Debbie (late
Robert), her daughter Megan (Luis), and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
While Vicky had a shy and bashful side, she would never turn down an opportunity to dance,
especially to Bruno Mars or Michael Jackson. She loved to listen to music and see live bands
with her girlfriends. She enjoyed bowling and going to exercise classes with her sister Kim and
friends. She was fortunate to have a few great loves in her life, but she would argue none were
as great as the love she had for her daughter.
She gave birth to her first and only child at the age of 39, whom she raised with such grace and
elegance. She made a life for the two of them and made sure her daughter never wanted for
anything. A mother full of endless and unconditional love, she would never miss an opportunity
to beam with pride at even the smallest of her daughter's accomplishments. If someone asked
Vicky how she was doing, her first response would be about something great her daughter had
done. No mother has ever loved a child the way Vicky loved Megan. And conversely, no
daughter has ever loved a mother the way Megan loved Vicky. The bond they shared for over 3
decades was an unbreakable one. Vicky moved to Miami, Florida in 2021 to be near her
daughter.
Vicky was so very loved by anyone that knew her. Her sweet smile and occasionally sassy yet
funny retorts were all just a part of how wonderful she was. If you were a friend of Vicky, you
were her friend for life. We can all take comfort in knowing that someone as loving, caring, and
kind as Vicky is now watching over us. There will be a celebration of life held in Michigan in July.
