Timothy Shawn Davis' Obituary
Timothy Shawn Davis, 60, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2022, in Miami, FL.
Shawn Davis was born on May 14, 1962 in Miami, FL, to Robert W. Davis and Shirley Mae Johnson Davis. His parents, Bob and Shirley relocated from Roanoke, Virginia to Miami, Florida in 1957 where they raised their five children.
Growing up, Shawn loved sports, cartoons, fishing, his neighborhood friends and had a wonderful sense of humor. He excelled in every sport he played. He attended Snapper Creek Elementary School, Glades Middle School, Palmer Trinity and graduated from Miami Killian High School in 1980. Shawn earned a baseball scholarship to Anderson College and went on to get his Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality from Florida International University. Shawn spent numerous years in the restaurant business then proceeded to get his Masters Degree and was an Associate Academic Dean at National School of Technology in Miami, FL.
Shawn married in Marathon Key and the couple had 3 children, Megan, Kaitlyn and Shawn. He adored his family and one of his favorite memories with them was Christmas morning. He enjoyed making Christmas magical for his children. He also enjoyed cooking for them and watching cartoons and movies with them. He loved hosting family gatherings at their home and providing plenty of delicious food. He was so excited and proud to be a grandfather and cherished the times he spent with them.
As the years marched on, Shawn struggled with various health problems and something that made him feel better was fishing. If he was able, he'd fish for hours and he was good at it. He loved the Lighthouse at Bill Baggs Park on Key Biscayne and watching the sunrise was a real treat for him. He adored his dog Benny, who was by his side morning and night. In later years, Shawn lived with his mother and they enjoyed many things together including their love of Jesus, church, sports, bird watching, politics and they didn't miss a televised Miami Dolphin game.
Shawn is survived by his mother Shirley Davis; daughter Megan Webb and husband Daniel; daughter Kaitlyn Davis and husband Hiram; and son Shawn Davis; brother, Dan Davis; sister, Julie Davis; sister Celia Guillen; brother Rob Davis; 5 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 4 first cousins; and best friend, Tom Gannon.
