Thomas Donald Rowland's Obituary
Thomas Donald Rowland, 90, of Miami, FL, passed away on January 14, 2025. He was born in Chicago, IL, on August 12, 1934. Tom graduated from St. Rita High School and Lewis University. He was the beloved husband of Nancy for 47 years. He worked for Delta Air Lines for 39 years starting as a cargo loader at Midway Field to working up to an assistant general foreman in maintenance. He was one the founding families of St. Timothy Catholic Church and was an active volunteer there all his life as one of the Counting Team Ministry members at the church who met every Monday to tally the offertory collections. He was a member of the Elks #948 Club and frequently played shuffleboard there. He also was an Army veteran. He was survived by Anne Longtin (Gerard) of Acworth, GA, Stephen of Mountain View, CA, and Edwin of Miami. He was also the loving grandfather of Bridget (Richard) Gress of Box Elder, SD, Daniel (Elvia) of Midland, NC, Justin and Shane Longtin of Acworth, GA and three great grandchildren Joseph and Olivia Gress and Gabriel Longtin. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, followed by interment in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Miami, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship fund in Tom’s memory to St. Rita of Cascia High School: 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620.
