Terrance Andrews' Obituary
Terrance Leroy Andrews, known to his loved ones as Terry, passed away on February 16, 2024, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 69. He was born on January 21, 1955, in Duluth, Minnesota. Between the years of 1957-1958 the family relocated to Trinidad via Venezuela and Brazil as his father was a Construction Superintendent who worked on projects worldwide. From there they relocated to Miami and eventually Hialeah, Florida.
Terry attended North Hialeah Elementary, Hialeah Jr. High and Hialeah Sr. High. He received his Associates degree from Miami Dade College in Forensics and continued with specialized FBI training in Criminal Investigation.
Terry began his career as a Crime Scene Investigator at the young age of 18 while still a Senior in High School. Throughout his career he received several accolades for his excellence in criminal Investigation. After serving 25 years with the Hialeah Police Department, he retired and started a successful Marine Mechanics business. He was known for his fairness, quality work and dedication to his clients. Terry took pride in mentoring his mechanics to be as skilled and meticulous as he was. He also owned and operated a vibrant boat charter business and enjoyed the many relationships he built over the years with his clientele.
Terry was a ray of sunshine with an upbeat, positive and larger than life personality that was endearing to all who knew him. He had an infectious laughter that would brighten your day. Famous for his antics, he brought much joy and laughter to anyone he came in contact with. Known for his generosity he was there to help friends, family and anyone in need. Terry was an avid animal lover and fed many of the feral cats that lived on Virginia Key and Crandon Park Marina. He had a heart of gold and left us with a rich legacy of everlasting love and compassion.
In his free time, Terry enjoyed boating, traveling and camping. At an early age Terry became an avid boater who began owning a hobie cat and a canoe. He then graduated to a 22 foot Bristol sailboat, 25 foot Bristol sailboat and then a 41 foot Charlie Morgan Sailing Yacht. Eventually Terry became a power boater and purchased a 44 foot Viking motor yacht. Eleven years later he transitioned to a 42 foot Trawler. For several decades he embarked on many trips through the Florida Keys and Bahamas with his husband (Jim), family and friends. Terry particularly favored Abaco, Bahamas and the out Islands of Great Guana Cay, Green Turtle Cay and Hope Town on Elbow Cay. On Great Guana Cay relationships were formed with the locals. They became like family and life long friends. Terry and Jim were lifelong cruisers (54 in total!) and traveled throughout the Caribbean and Central and South America. They enjoyed meeting new people and rekindling relationships with old friends on their cruises. Terry and Jim also enjoyed many road trips, train travel and many camping adventures throughout Florida and Georgia. He had a talent for cooking and hosting special events and holidays for his friends and family. Terry was especially famous for baking delicious lasagna, approved by his Italian mother-in-law.
Terry is survived by his loving husband of 45 years and 7 months, Jim Giglio, his loving sisters and husbands Linda Woodall and John, Patti Campbell and Steve, his loving niece and husband Rene Tompkins and Stephen, his sister in law and brother in law, Peggy Giglio and Ralph Giglio, Nephew and wife Nick and Melissa Giglio and children, several cousins, and an Uncle. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Andrews and mother, Daisy Andrews, mother in law, Rose Giglio and several Aunts and Uncles.
