Years ago Ted Adams was recommended to me as a handyman. Ted arrived at my home on Key Biscayne where he was handy and creative and an entertaining storyteller with an always surprising personal history. Today looking around my home I see dozens of repairs, installations, and thoughtful touches Ted made throughout the house. When he told me he’d reconnected with his son in Orlando I’ve never seen him so happy. When he told me he had become ill I was shocked - Ted was always in indomitable health. As he slowed down he remained in touch telling me he was going to accept an offer on his house and move to Orlando. The next thing, I’m reading of his passing. Ted Adams was small in stature, and had a huge heart and powerful twinkle in his eye. He loved people, animals, cars and antiques; he loved being helpful and was. He loved my holiday key lime cake and I loved giving them to him. It was our tradition. It’s going to be hard to repair the hole in my heart and a few problems in my house that were beyond repair for us both. Can you live with it, Susi? he’d say. I can. And I will cherish my memories of Ted Adams too. Rest easy, my friend.
