SUZANNE ARNASON DOCKERTY's Obituary
Obituary for Suzanne Arnason Dockerty April 3, 1960 – October 14, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Arnason Dockerty, who passed away peacefully at her home in Coral Gables, Florida, on October 14th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 65.
Suzanne was born in Fargo, North Dakota, to Arni and Jean Arnason. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Miami, Florida, where she would grow up and eventually build both her personal and professional life.
Suzanne was the devoted wife of Jim Dockerty, loving mother to Olivia and Daniel, and proud grandmother to her cherished grandson, Henry. To her husband and children, she was the sun and they were her planets. She approached her role as wife, mom, and grandma, with endless love and laughter.
Suzanne graduated from the University of Florida and went on to earn her law degree from the University of Miami. After working for several prominent law firms in Miami, Suzanne formed her own practice in 1998 specializing in real estate. Over the past 27 years, she was most proud of her work advising the Archdiocese of Miami and the Diocese of Palm Beach.
Suzanne was passionate about art and her Catholic faith. Her generosity led her to founding Eyes for Art in 1988 which supported the Center for the Fine Arts (now PAMM). She also founded Friends of Carmel in 1998, which supports the mission of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles and their work at St. Theresa School in Coral Gables.
She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Olivia and her husband Richard Novak and their son Henry of Miami, FL and son Daniel, and his wife Courtney of New York, NY. She is also survived by her five siblings, extended family, beloved friends and colleagues.
A wake will be held on October 17th at 5pm - 8PM at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel in Coral Gables. A funeral mass will be celebrated on October 18th at noon at St. Augustine’s Church in Coral Gables. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
