Susan Goldsmith Shelley's Obituary
Susan Goldsmith Shelley (Susie) passed away peacefully at home on May 26th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Susie was born July 19th, 1945 in Augusta, Georgia. She was raised by her parents, Helen & Bertram Goldsmith in New Jersey, then they moved to Key Biscayne when she was a teenager. Susie graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1963, and then attended the University of Miami, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. At UM, she met her husband, and the love of her life, Robert J. Shelley III (Robin).
They were married at the Marine Corps Chapels, Quantico, Virginia October 7, 1967. Susie completed her degree in business at UM, graduating in 1968. She & Robin permanently settled in Miami in 1969, where they raised their two children, Jennifer Shelley Robinson (Jen) and Robert J. Shelley III, (Jud).
Susie was always very dedicated to family, especially her two children Jennifer and Jud (Robert J. Shelley IV). She participated in all of their activities like Brownies, Cub Scouts, Khoury League baseball, horseback riding, etc.
She was a member of the Junior League of Miami, board member of History Miami, director of the Goldsmith Family Foundation, member of the Rotary Club of Miami, supporter of the YMCA of South Florida & Informed Families, member of Coral Reef Yacht Club, Coral Gables Yacht Club, Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, member of gala committee for Miami Dade County Public Schools Foundation, host mother of four Rotary International youth exchange students and a member of the 200 Club of Greater Miami.
In lieu of flowers she requests donations be made to Rotary Club of Miami Foundation. The check is to be made out to: Thomas Brown McClelland Trust, P.O. Box 43-1466, Miami, FL 33143 for Medical School Scholarships, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, 601 SW 8th Ave, Miami, FL 33130 or a charity of your choice.
Susie is survived by her loving husband, Robin. Son, Robert Shelley Iv (Jud). Brother, Bertram Goldsmith Jr. (Chico), his wife Cynthia, and her grandchildren, Shelley Robinson, Madelyn (Maddie), Robert Shelley V (Ripley), Tyler Shelley, Cody Shelley, Braden Shelley (Brady), as well as her son-in-law, Michael Robinson. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer Shelley Robinson.
The funeral took place Saturday, May 30th, 2026 at 11:00AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (5690 N. Kendall Drive, Coral gables, FL 33156)
Interment took place at Woodlawn Park Cemetery North, 3260 SW 8th Street on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:am
