STEPHEN A. PAPY SR's Obituary
Stephen A. Papy Sr. passed away peacefully on April 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with liver cancer. An eighth generation Floridian, Steve was born January 16, 1956 to Charles C. Papy, Jr., and June M. Papy in Miami, Florida. Steve is survived by his wife Maria and 5 children, Laura (Carlos), Mark, Travis, Katherine, Stephen and his two beloved granddaughters, Victoria and Susana. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Anne), and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was a bigger than life person who deeply loved his family and close friends. He could tell a story whether real or imagined with great ease, believability and outstanding wit. Steve served in the United States Marine Corp., as an embassy guard at the American Embassy in New Delhi, India and Rome, Italy attaining the rank of Sergeant. Steve received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Miami and his law degree from Stetson University after which he became an outstanding trial lawyer representing those less fortunate. An avid reader, golfer, and outdoorsman, he loved to share the great wonders of Florida with his children and grandchildren. Steve was a gentlemen of unique talents and brilliance and truly one of a kind. A lover of history, he could always quote from scripture or a famous author in order to prove his point. All of his family and friends will deeply miss him and will always remember his courageous spirit. The family will be accepting friends at a visitation event at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel, at 11220 N. Kendall Dr. Miami, FL on Sunday, April 22,2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a funeral mass to take place on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 10:30 am, St. Louis Catholic Church, 7270 SW 120 Street, Miami, FL.
