SHAM G SANI's Obituary
SANI, SHAM, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died at the age of 90 at his home in Key Biscayne, FL on February 27, 2014. Born in India, he came to the United States in 1946. The original purveyor of “bleeding madras” fabric in this country – he sold over 20 million yards of it – he later turned his entrepreneurial spirit to the area of real estate, buying and developing land all over the country. Known for his brilliant business sense and work ethic, he was also known for his generosity and devotion to his family and friends all over the world. When he was not helping those around him, he loved to discuss spirituality, his adventures traveling the globe, and classic movies, especially musicals. He was loved and will continue to be loved by many.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Kamla Sani, and his daughter Mona Sani. He is survived by his daughters Sheila (Suresh) Chainani and Pamela (James) Goddard, his five grandchildren Sonesh Chainani, Soman Chainani, Sanjeev Chainani, Arianne Goddard and Peter Goddard, and twin great-grandchildren, Uma Chainani and Kaveen Chainani.
A funeral service for him will be held at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel on Monday, March 3 at 12:00pm (4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134; tel. 305-446-4412). A viewing will be held at the same address on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 from 2pm to 5pm.
