Sara Frear Shepard's Obituary
SHEPARD, Sara Hathaway Frear, 91, died September 22, 2009. She was born on June 8, 1918 in Hampton, Tennessee; child of Mary Katherine Hathaway and Harry Shippey Frear. Sara’s early years were spent in Greeneville, Tennessee, but in 1933, the family moved to Miami, Florida. She graduated from Miami Senior High School and briefly attended the University of Miami. She served as a secretary and registrar for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 31 years. Sara married Robert M. Shepard (deceased 1991) in 1940. She is survived by her children: Robert M. (DeVeta) Shepard, Jr., Kathryn E. (Jack) Mervine, and William D. (Vicenta) Shepard; her grandchildren: Robert M. (Sue Ellen) Shepard, III, Jeanette Beltramo, Kimberly (John) Zeggert, and Samantha Shepard; her great-grandchildren: Dallas, Grey, and Anna Shepard; Sama and Emma Beltramo; Patrick, Zachary, and Hannah Jane Zeggert. Sara was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: Christ the King Lutheran Church, Pinecrest, Florida, or your charity of choice. A visitation will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 11295 S.W. 57 Avenue, on Saturday, September 26 from 2 to 3:15 pm, with a service starting promptly at 3:30 pm, and a reception at the church to follow.
