Birth date: Feb 22, 1958 Death date: May 24, 2018
We just opened the letter from the hospital and shocked and so saddened to hear this news about Dr. Bhatia. Our hearts were broken and I am not sure how the family is going through. My son had the ETV surgery successfully done by Dr. Bhatia 3 years back and we have been seeing him every year since then and our last visit was in March. He was looking healthy and always smile on his face gives all the strength to the patients. I pray god to give all the strength to his family in this difficult situation and may his soul be in peace. This is a major loss to the hospital and community and we are not sure if we will be comfortable enough with anyone else as we got so used to Dr. Bhatia. We truly miss him. Thank you for saving my son's life

I hope the family feels better with all these nice notes.

We were so saddened and shocked to learn of Dr. Bhatia's passing. He had a wonderful bedside manner and was a calming/ reassuring presence during our appointments with our son. Although we only knew him for 2 years, we feel a deep loss and want to extend our sincere condolences to his wife, children, extended family and colleagues.
We miss running into him at Fresh Market.
Dr. Bhatia was an amazing, caring, loving, compassionate and an incredible doctor. He saved my son’s life not once but twice. My son was contaminated in the hospital at birth and was sent to Miami children’s hospital where I met Dr. Bhatia. Dr. Bhatia performed brain surgery and placed a shunt in my son’s brain due to pressure buildup in his brain. Three months later again he performed brain surgery due to blood clots in his brain.
I will truly miss you Dr. Bhatia and thank you for saving my son’s life.

I just received a letter from Nicholas children hospital about Dr. Bhatia passing. He was such a amazing person and he truly cared about my son. We found out that my son had two brain tumors in 2016 and during that year, the neurosurgeon that we were seeing just kept giving my son medication after medication to try and control his seizures. My son was becoming non verbal and the medication were not working and he was experiencing so many side effects. In 2017, I drove our son 3 hours to meet Dr. Bhatia in search for answers. He was absolutely the most caring and heartwarming towards our son. Within a few months.. my son had surgery to have one of the tumors removed... since then, my son has been seizure free and is thriving and doing amazing! I cannot thank Dr. Bhatia enough for everything he has done for my son, giving him a chance of having a normal life. He will be truly missed!!!
When we received news of Dr. Bhatia's passing, my family was heartbroken! When we found out my daughter had a brain tumor, we were distraught and nothing in life prepared us for this despite being an Emergency Physician and my wife, a Trauma Nurse. While choosing a Surgeon for my daughter, Dr. Bhatia put us at ease. He was kind, gentle, humble and a beautiful soul! We knew we made the right decision. Before the Surgery, my wife told Dr. Bhatia that my daughter, 6 years old at the time, is a Ballerina, and its important for her to hide the scar and for him not cut her hair so she can do cover it. He took the time in the OR to braid her hair himself prior to an exhausting 6 hour surgery. This is the kind of gentle and special human being he was. The Nurses told us he wouldn't let them braid her hair. Our lives have forever been changed by Dr. Bhatia. He saved our daughter's life and left a lasting impression that made me and my wife better Practitioners in our own personal lives. God rest his soul and bless his family!
