Dr. SAMUEL "BUD" SAGER's Obituary
Dr. Samuel “Bud” Ott Sager, M.D. died September 10th, 2015 in Miami, Florida. He was born to Dr. Washington Budd Sager, M.D. and Helen Newman Sager on May 21st, 1926 in Danville, Va. He was the youngest of seven children. He finished high school in 1944 and immediately volunteered for the Army Air Force, where he served until the war’s end. He attended Duke University, receiving the B.A. degree in 1949. He then attended Duke University Medical School, earning his M.D. in 1953. After an internship at Walter Reid Hospital, he served in the U.S. Air Force in France, as a Captain.
Dr. Sager came to Venice, Fl. in 1958 and began a medical practice that lasted forty years. After retiring, he moved to Sarasota. He was happiest playing tennis, riding his bicycle and enjoying friends. Dr. Sager was a member of the Church of the Redeemer and until recently, the Field Club.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Millner Sager, three stepchildren: Nanette Hahr Bishopric, M.D. of Miami (husband Marc Lippman, M.D.), Suzanne Bishopric of Manhattan and George Bishopric, Jr., M.D. of Ft. Lauderdale and four grandchildren, Anthony Bishopric of San Francisco, Julia Webster and Andrew Webster of L.A. and William Manning of Montréal, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the American Heart Association or the Nature Conservancy. Services will be held at a later date.
