Ruth Clark Remington's Obituary
On Friday, January 23, 2026, we lost a wonderful friend and beloved wife, Ruth Remington. Ruth had been a pancreatic cancer survivor for more than 13 years, but it returned in recent months. Ruth is survived by her husband, Henry Blinder, of Miami Beach. She was a devoted aunt, cousin, and friend.
Ruth grew up in Bronxville and Rye, New York, the daughter of the late Joan and Chuck Remington and the younger sister of the late Brad Remington. Her career was in marketing and communications in both Boston and New York City. Later, she and Henry lived in Miami Beach, the South of France, and Vermont.
Ruth was a devoted dachshund owner and created a community of fellow dachshund lovers in Miami by starting the South Beach Dachshund Winterfest; she did so again in Littleton, NH. Ruth was also an avid weaver and had great taste in all things beautiful. She played a key role in the development of South Pointe Park in Miami Beach, helping to transform an industrial site into a vibrant public space.
Most of all, Ruth was a truly kind person with a beautiful smile and a ready wit. She was self-deprecating to a fault, always ready with a kind word, thoughtful, and generous. She inspired us with her courage and love.
She will be dearly missed.
A memorial gathering for late spring is being planned and will be announced here on this site in late March.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's name to "Dog Mountain". Please see donation information on the Dog Mountain web site: https://www.dogmt.com
