Ruth Robie Lacy Carpenter's Obituary
Ruth Robie Lacy Carpenter passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 82.
Robie, known by everyone, graduated Coral Gables High School, class of 1958. Robie went to Mary Baldwin College, Vanderbilt University, University of Miami, and achieved her master's degree at Nova University.
Robie was a member of Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Miami, and Delta Kappa Gamma during her career.
Robie was married to Donn Michael Carpenter, a United States Air Force veteran and commercial airline pilot, who was killed in a mid-air collision, while flying for All Nippon Airlines over Mount Fugi, Japan, in 1971. Robie's only son, David, was born two months after her husband was killed.
Robie was a teacher for 38 years and taught at Homestead Air Force Base Elementary, Henry M. Flagler Elementary, and Tropical Elementary School until her retirement.
Robie was a long-time member of Saint Phillip's Episcopal Church in Coral Gables.
Robie is survived by her sisters, Margie, Hazel, and Cindy. Also survived by her son, David.
A memorial service will be at Van Orsdel Funeral Home at 11220 North Kendall Drive on Saturday, September 23rd, from 3 to 6pm.
