OBITUARY
Ruben Rios Lauzurique passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 4th, 2018 in Aventura, FL. He was 66 years old.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Olga Rios; and his children, Krystle Rios, Karen Rios, Belixa Rios, Ruben Rios and Reniel Rios; and his beloved pet Jumper Rios. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Rios and Aida Lauzurique of Cardenas, Matanzas Cuba.
Ruben was born on June 17th, 1952 in Cardenas a city in the Matanzas providence of Cuba. At an early age he voiced his opposition to the Cuban government and communism. He was held as a political prisoner, and later emigrated to Miami via Key West along with thousands of other Cuban refugees during the Marielito exodus in 1980. He married Olga Rivas on July 19th, 1984. Over the next 34 years, the couple welcomed two children, Krystle & Karen into their lives and built a beautiful home together. His family remembers him as hard-working, kind, noble, and selfless.
Ruben was skilled in mechanics and engineering, and worked primarily as a technician to provide for his family. He had a deep love and compassion for animals. He enjoyed being outdoors and learning about science, nature and the universe. He is also remembered by all who knew him as a world class Cuban chef and story teller.
A funeral is scheduled for 12:00PM on Sunday October 14th, 2018 at Van Orsdel Family Funeral Chapel at 3333 NE 2nd Avenue Miami, FL 33137. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruben Rios’ life.
