ROSS CHRISTOPHER COPELAND's Obituary
Ross Christopher Copeland, 48, died peacefully at an assisted living facility in Homestead, FL on Oct. 4th. He was born in Chicago, IL, July 24, 1968, being raised in Bloomingdale, Park Forest, and Maywood, IL. He lived in Oak Park, IL, prior to moving to Keokuk, IA, 10 years ago. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Coburn, Warsaw; brother Eric Copeland, sister-in-law Claudia; nieces Lara and Stefania, all of Coral Gables, FL; aunt and uncle Richard and Suzanne Coffman, Joliet; cousins Carrie Myers (Bill) of CO, Stephen Coffman (Kim),IL, and William Coffman (Laura), Mich. and their families. Ross was known and loved by many. He had Asperger Syndrome and lived a normal life until diabetes took his leg and later his life. At Proviso high school Ross received bronze and silver medals for academic achievement and attended the University of Miami (FL) for 3 years as a business major. He worked for various charities in the Chicago area. Here, he was a reader at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and he traveled extensively with his mother on Keokuk and Quincy bus excursions, including Pasadena, Cape Cod and Hawaii. Ross joins his father Thomas Copeland; step-father Rev. Michael Coburn (former priest at St. Paul's, Warsaw); Coffman, Copeland and Coburn grandparents, and Aunt Edith, Uncle Dale, and Aunt Ann in heaven. May they all rest in peace. Visitation 5 pm – 8 pm Service 7 pm at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL. Burial in Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
