ROBERTA HEALY LUNDSTEDT's Obituary
After fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis for nearly 50 years, and defying the steepest of odds every single step of the way, Roberta Healy Lundstedt passed away peacefully on September 11th at home with her family and puppies by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1952 and moved to Miami, FL with her parents, grandparents, and siblings at the age of 7. As a Registered Nurse at Jackson and Mercy Hospital, she cared for countless patients in the critical care unit and the emergency room, helping to blaze the trail of the use of Intra-aortic balloon pumps in the 70s. A true entrepreneur at heart, she also successfully started her own gifts and baskets business, motivated by the joy her work brought to people.
Above all though, Roberta was defined by being the absolute best wife and mother anyone could ever hope for. The unconditional love between Roberta and her husband, Tom, was the embodiment of a fairy tale marriage. Despite her physical limitations, she was the most loving and supportive Mom anyone could know, and she took tremendous pride in raising two wonderful children.
Roberta inspired everyone who came into contact with her. She would light up every room she entered and always possessed a commanding, yet compassionate presence. Despite all of the obstacles she had to overcome, Roberta consistently put others first. She also mastered the delicate balance of self-confidence and humility.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years Tom, her children Tommy and Lila, her mother Mary, her siblings Mary, Jane, Bob, Joe, Tom & Nancy, her nieces and nephews, Mari, and her 5 Yorkshire terriers.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 9/14/2014 from 6PM-9PM with a Mass of the Resurrection at Holy Rosary/St. Richards Catholic Church 7500 SW 152 St, Monday, 9/15/2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at Our Lady of Mercy.
