Roberta Jean Logan Infante-Helip's Obituary
Roberta “Bobbi” Jean Logan Infante-Helip
March 9, 1938 - August 24, 2021
Miami, Florida - Roberta “Bobbi” Infante-Helip, 83, passed away earlier this week. Born in Palatka, Florida, Bobbi spent most of her childhood in Daytona Beach where the “artistic” and “lively” redhead graduated with honors from Sea Breeze High School in 1956. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages from Florida State University in 1960. Bobbi was hired by Pan American Airlines the same year as a flight attendant and flew to South and Central America, the Caribbean Islands and Europe. In 1963, she met and bewitched her first husband, Joseph Infante Jr., and was welcomed into the Infante family. The two married and had three children. They ultimately settled in Miami, Florida, and Bobbi became a French and Spanish teacher at Southwest Miami Senior High School from 1963 until 1966. After taking some time off to care for her young family while Joe was deployed to Vietnam, she became a substitute teacher. In 1980, Bobbi returned to work full time at W.R. Thomas Junior High School as an ESOL, French and Spanish teacher. “Madame” Infante shared her love of languages with her students through song, dance, costumes and props. She often took her act to the stage for the annual teacher talent show. Bobbi retired in 2001 to travel and enjoy evenings under her favorite tree with her husband, Joe, until his passing in 1999. Bobbi then became “Babba” to her first grandchild and introduced her children and by then several grandchildren to Donald Helip when they began dating in 2001. Bobbi and Don spent their time together visiting friends and family across the country. They were married in 2012. Bobbi considered herself extremely fortunate to have Don in her life. She is survived by her husband Donald Helip; children Erik Infante, Joseph K. Infante and Mysti Hardeman; eleven grandchildren and step grandchildren; brother Samuel Logan; and many other beloved family members.
