ROBERT JAMES SHAFER's Obituary
Shafer, Robert J., age 98, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017. Bob served as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force before joining Eastern Airlines as a meteorologist, retiring after 32 years. At age 70, he went to work at the University of Miami Library, where he worked for 25 years. He loved volunteering at church, golf, reading, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons Jack (Mary), Bob (Aïda), his 3 grandchildren Emily, Brooke, and Natalie, and his sister Helen Gabriel. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 26 from 6-8PM with a service on Wednesday, December 27 at 10AM. Visitation and service are at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel in Coral Gables, followed by burial in West Palm Beach.
