Robert Downing Parks
July 29, 1968-June 3, 2018
Robert Downing Parks 49, affectionally known as “Robb,” died on June 3, of metastasized melanoma.  He was born in Miami Beach and lived in South Florida most of his life. The son of Arva Parks McCabe and Robert Lyle Parks, he loved all kinds of sports and boating in the Bahamas and on Biscayne Bay. He graduated from Coral Gables High School where he played varsity football and was on the track team.  After serving in the Navy he received a degree from the Florida Culinary Institute and spent many happy years as a chef in a myriad of restaurants and clubs.  Robb was famous for his happy personality, sense of humor and engaging smile. His family and many friends loved to spend time with him. Besides his parents and his stepmother, Lyn, he is survived by his siblings Gregory Parks, Jacqueline Carey Guerra, Gabrielle and Joshua D’Alemberte, his dear “almost brother” Joey Higgins and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables at 12:30 on Friday June 8.
