ROBERT D LANE's Obituary
LANE, ROBERT D.
Bob, born May 13, 1935, in Wilmington, N.C., was the 4th child of Thelma
Benson and Frederick Lane. The Lane family moved to Miami when Bob
Was 3. He graduated from Edison High School in 1953, and joined the U.S.
Navy. Honorably discharged in 1959, he became a City of Miami Police
Officer, but soon felt the call to serve the Miami community as a firefighter.
He retired as a lieutenant, in 1992. Set free to dwell in eternal light February 3,
2017. Remember Bob for his hysterical wit, immediate quips, Red Baron character,
Dinner table laughter, generosity to family, helping hand to friends, silent
Service to those in need. Always watchful, always alert, always precise, a
Master craftsman, problem solver, and spiritual soul.
Bob Lane will forever be in the heart of his wife Cerita, first wife Christina;
Daughter Kim; sons Tom and Bob Jr.; honored children Shayna and Shawn;
Siblings Peggy (deceased), Louise, David, Joyce, and Fred; grandchildren
Matthew, Sarah, Josh, and Taylor; honored grandchildren Kim, Dillon, and
Chloe; and two precious great granddaughters.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. Gibran
Visitation with light refreshments 11:30 am – 12:30 pm followed by the
Funeral Service at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL. Burial to follow at Flagler Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s memory to St. Jude Hospital for Children, or Wounded Warrior Project, would be appreciated.
