Robert Jensen's Obituary
Memorial - Robert Jensen 11/6/1921 to 12/23/2009
Robert Jensen, a first generation American was born in Chicago, Illinois to Danish
immigrants. His family had 2 brothers and 2 sisters and all the brothers served in the US
Armed Forces during WW II. Bob was in the Pacific campaign as a navy aircraft mechanic.
After the war he worked until retirement with Pan Am as an aircraft mechanist.
Even in retirement, he enjoyed working on Vintage aircraft and volunteered his time to
restore vintage aircraft. He met and married the love of his life Florence, and they were
married for over 60 years until her death this Thanksgiving.
During their life together they had made friends in North Carolina, where they
had a second home for many years. They enjoyed car and airplane shows and the beauty of the Mountains near Franklin NC. He was very devoted to his wife during her 4 year illness, sacrificing his own well being to care for her.
Bob was very artistic and could make or repair almost anything, repairing and
restoring, vintage bicycle, pictures(painting them and creating custom frames, model
aircraft and cars. He also built many wood craft items such as a clock, the dulcemer, a
musical instrument, and other art pieces.
During his last 2 years he was recovering from injuries which complicated his
recovery and he passed away in his home on 12/23/09. It was very unexpected, as he had
been up and moving about on his own at home.
He is survived by his only son Raymond, Ray's wife Ellen and her sons Steve
and John. Bob will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Ray will have a private
service with both of his parents later in January.
