ROBERT J JANSON's Obituary
JANSON, Robert - known to friends as “Bob”, long time resident of Coral Gables, FL died June 10, 2022, in Coral Gables. Bob was born 1922 in New York City, NY. He achieved his goal of living 100+ years and he lived independently.
Attended City College of New York and Columbia University.
Commercial Pilot and Flight instructor in the early 1940’s. Trained pilots across the U.S. U.S. He served as Navy Aviator (Lieutenant) for four years during World War II. He demonstrated the Navy’s new Helldiver Bomber to the Press in 1944.
After the war he worked in Europe for several years on Flight Operation Projects, including the Commercial Airline involvement in the Berlin, Germany Airlift. Worked for the F.A.A. in New York after returning to the U.S. Employed by National Airlines and later retired from Pan American Airways. Bob was a resident of Coral Gables for 56 years.
Member of Coral Gables Country Club, Tenth Holers Golf Assoc. and Army Navy Club of Coral Gables. World traveler. Avid golfer and bridge player.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Jeanette (Jeanne) Janson and Karen (Perry Cone), grandson Ryan, granddaughter Lauren, great grandson Elliott, and his lovely long term companion Susana Lawrence.
Interment at Woodlawn Park South.
