ROBERT LESLIE EVANS Jr.'s Obituary
DISTRICT FIRE CHIEF
EVANS, Jr. Robert L. age 63, passed away December 24th, after a hard fought battle with brain cancer with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Miami and graduated Miami High in 1968. He attended the Fire Academy in 1974 and served the City of Miami Fire Department as District Fire Chief for 35 years until his retirement in April 2010. He contributed to the community as a Director and Chairman of the Board on the Miami Firefighters Federal Credit Union, a Treasurer for his local church and by donating to various wildlife organizations. He found his passion in wildlife photography and through his extensive travel with his wife was able to fulfill his dreams.
He was beloved by all who knew him for his kind and compassionate nature. He is survived by his wife Lisa; daughter Danielle and two granddaughters Jazlyn and Jaelyne; his two sisters Joan Barfus and Gail Shelow and many extended family members. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle who will forever live in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 12 Noon followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 – 5 PM at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES ,
4600 S.W. 8th Street.
In lieu of flowers a donation in his memory to the World Wildlife Fund would be appreciated.
