I want to apologize for such late condolences. I was saddened to learn today of Rick’s passing last year. I worked for several years with him at the Miami VA. I have great memories of him, his wisdom, and his heart for others under that sometimes reactive exterior. He was a great Service Chief and I was a Supervisor under his leadership. I found him to be very wise. I considered him a friend. He retired from the VA in Miami during my tenure there. When I was leaving the VA there to work at the Orlando VA, Rick came by to visit me before I left. I remember him sharing how much he loved his sons and family. Very seldom have I met anyone as passionate about his work. I consider my life enhanced by the time I served under his supervision.
