Richard Davis Pitkin's Obituary
Pitkin, Richard Davis, 89 years old, of Miami, passed away quietly on June 5, 2019 at Baptist Hospital. Richard was born in Elyria, Ohio, to Ralph and Geraldine Pitkin. He graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio with B.A. Degrees in Political Science, History and Sociology. He did graduate work in Political Science at Ohio State. Richard served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, which allowed him to travel around Europe and the U.K.
Deciding NOT to become a teacher, he turned to studying Accounting as his occupation. His aunt and uncle, the Bomhoffs, who were thinking of retiring, asked him to take over Florida Business Service in Coral Gables in 1964. Richard maintained the business along with his devoted wife, Peggy, for 55 years on the same street, Almeria Ave. He was an avid reader and continued to learn everything he could on every subject. In spite of medical restrictions, he continued to work until his passing.
Richard was respected and appreciated by his clients and co-workers. He was considered a family member by many of his friends. Richard is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Worley. He is survived by his loving wife and business partner of 43 years, Peggy, his brother, David (Betsy) of North Carolina, their daughters, Chrissy, Erin and their children.
