RICHARD IVAN CRUZ's Obituary
Richard Ivan Cruz
February 16, 1949 - August 16, 2019
Richard Ivan Cruz, 70, died Friday, August 16, 2019 at home, following a brief illness.
Born in Rochester, NY to his parents both preceding him in death.
Mr. Cruz was a long-time veteran employee at the Miami Dade County Clerk’s Office, having completed 47 devoted years of county service. He loved serving the public and assisting them with their complicated driver license issues.
He not only took pride in his work, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in public civil service. Over the years, his expertise with traffic court records, and his reliability for having perfect attendance, earned him the reputation of being one of the best resources for case research and problem solving.
Mr. Cruz had a passion for his beloved football team The Miami Dolphins, and remained an avid fan until his last days.
He leaves to cherish two brothers, Glenn Cruz (wife Mina) of Jacksonville, FL, one nephew, Cary Cruz, and brother Russell Cruz of Miami, FL. And a host of close friends and many caring co-workers at the Clerk’s Office Traffic & Misdemeanor Division that loved him very much.
A visitation will be held 5 pm – 11 pm Friday, August 23 at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Funeral Chapel, 4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134. Graveside Service 10 am Saturday at Flagler Memorial Park.
