RENE V. DAVILA's Obituary
Dr. Rene Victor Davila died peacefully among family and friends on May 17, 2015 near his home in Miami. Rene was born in Ecuador and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where he first met Gaby Mendez, the woman who would become his wife. They were married in December of 1968 and had one child, Tania.
Compassionate and selfless, his interests and talents included art, literature and photography. Rene worked as a respected architect for more than 40 years both in New York and Miami. His accomplishments also included earning his doctorate degree in architecture in 2010, numerous gallery showings of his art and photography, and what he would credit as his greatest achievements in life, his daughter and grandchildren, whom he loved tirelessly.
Rene is survived by his wife, Gaby, and his only child, Tania Zucker, wife of Martin Zucker, and their two children, Julianna and Jeremy. Also surviving are his brothers, Byron, Jaime and Oscar Davila, and his sisters, Elizabeth Davila, Livia Neeves, Nohemy Davila, Esperanza Hemmings and Moraima Campanella. Rene was preceded in death by his parents Maria and Jaime Davila, and his brother, Fausto Davila.
