Raymond Eugene Nelson's Obituary
Raymond Eugene Nelson, 77, of Boca Raton passed away on October 1st, 2020 with two of his daughters by his side.
He was born March 30, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia to Raymond and Edna (Bock) Nelson. While Raymond was an only child, he enjoyed spending time with his cousins on the family farm in Danville, Illinois.
Raymond graduated at the top of his class from Hialeah Senior High School. He then attended the University of Florida, where he was an active member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and where he earned his degree in Architecture. During his varied career he worked for the State of Florida, CAS Engineering, his own architecture firm, The Organization of American States in Washington D.C., and The University of Florida. He retired from Florida Atlantic University, where he was Director of Facilities Management.
Raymond loved cooking, architecture, old Porsches, motorcycles, dogs, and the Florida Gators. He divided his time between his two homes in Boca Raton and Gainesville, Florida.
He is survived by his four children: Dru Nelson, Dana (Charles) Jones, Kelly Nelson, and Jacqueline Nelson; and six grandchildren: Sierra, Aiden, Hannah, Kennedy, Maya, and Abigail.
