Ray Miller
Ray “Shorty” Miller – Ray Miller passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 7, 2012, and will be missed by many. He was a dedicated and faithful servant of God whose faith was contagious, and his presence was always welcome at any gathering. Known throughout the City of Miami as “Shorty,” Ray became a mentor to many children at Robert King High Park and encouraged them to develop their athletic skills over his 31-year career as a Recreation Supervisor. His influence on the lives he touched over the years will never be forgotten. We all know that God has welcomed a dear son home.
Ray was preceeded by his wife, Jane Miller. He was survived by his son, George (Beth) Miller and his children, George, Marshal (Nicole), Janelle and Tyler; daughter, Jane (Wayne) Kniskern and her children, Sean and Jennifer; daughter, Cindy (Pat) Moore and her children, Rebecca, Angela, Patrick and Jerry; and son, John Mark Miller. He was also an 84-year Miami native and had been an active participant in the Miami High Alumnus group which he loved.
A visitation service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 6pm to 9pm at Van Orsdel, 11220 Kendall Drive, Miami, FL. On Friday, July 13, 2012, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Van Orsdel at 10am, with interment following at Flagler Memorial Park.
